Default ? Shore Fishing in Seward, 27-29 APR ?

Me and the family are going to be in Seward for an Army family team building thing at the Military resort there in Seward. I am told that we are going to have alot of free time between lectures and classes, so I was thinking maybe we could toss some lines in the water. The boys are 3 and 6 years old and were not rich so a charter is alittle outta our reach. So we were thinking shore fishing either off the docks or off the beach? I have no idea so any info or areas where we could do this would be great, oh and by the way my pm doesnt work for some reason so if one of the admin guys reads this could you help please? thanks agian

-there's always opportunities for the little ones to fish around here!

.... I can get you some info here, in a bit-

jigging off the end of the docks was always fun when I was a kid
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

The small Storm swimbait style jigs work good for most things and you can`t go wrond with a chunk of herring with a small sinker. Ditto on fishing the docks...it`s better when the tide is coming in.

If you have kids with you and someone gives you crap I would tell them nicely where they can go!
You should be fine, Hope you have a blast!

i remember sittin on the docks in seward, sometimes we used to catch small flounder, irish lord, and little butts with pieces of hot dogs, but mostly we used herring or fresh roe......the resurrection river has dollies in it, and so does 4th of july creek on nash road......you can probably take a chance and hike out to tonsina creek and fish off the beach there for sea run dollies using little crocodile spoons...its an easy hike and i think its less than 4 miles? youll see some wildlife too most likely. Grouse Lake near seward is also good for dollies. watch for bears

Even though we didnt get to fish much, we did get to meet a new FRIEND "smokemreds" and got an awsome offer from another forum member, you know who you are There are some great people and some great Alaskans on this site! Thanks everyone for the help and support.
