    Default Anchorage City Skylines...

I thought it would be cool to have a collection of City skylines for Anchorage (and other Alaska "cities"). Don't have to be recent shots, or even any good...just something to show the various buildings and moods of Alaska cities.

I'll see if I can find a few more. Mine are older, and it's kinda cool to see how the skyline changes over the years.

This one has become one of my favorites of the city skyline.

Here's my version of the most common Anchorage skyline scene.

Hey, I've been gone for a few years now...WHAT is that building tower (white with green/blue) that's sorta in front to the left of the Gold ARCO tower (which is now BP, I guess) building?

That's a new one to me.

Everything else still looks pretty much like my first post above. (from the late 1990's).
Things change in 10years. That's why I like this thread...it REALLY shows some of the change in the city.

Anybody doing any rollerblading on the bike trails this summer? I REALLY miss the Bike Trails...no where else I've found is like Anchorage's bike trail system. Little bit in Denver maybe, but I sure didn't fully appreciate what we had, until moving south and not having them anymore.

That's a newer hotel. Can't remember the name.

The building boom has certainly slowed in the last decade, so most of downtown is still the same. There has been more development in mid town though.

Yeah, I was homesick about a BEER on the patio bar at the Hotel on Spenard lake watching planes take off (the Clarion) and got on Google Earth and discovered the Millenium Hotel. Holy crap! I can imagine there's gotta be some new strip malls and roads punched through, etc. I probably would get lost in the town I grew up in, NOW!

I ran across an OLD newspaper I had collected, and found this old shot by Mr. Ward Wells. Kinda lets you know how much the city has changed 'till now. PHOTO by Ward Wells, Anchorage Times.
