Food Preservation Workshop April 9-10, 2010 at the Talkeetna Senior Center.



Julie Cascio, with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will be teaching a Food Preservation Workshop April 9-10, 2010 at the Talkeetna Senior Center. Come and learn to make jams, pickles, sauerkraut and to can fish in this hands-on class. Cost of class is $45. Call 733-1471 to register.



Friday, April 9 6pm to 9pm, Talkeetna Senior Center
Making Jellied Products and Introduction to Food Preservation. The
class will discuss the steps in making jellied products, then practice
by making jam, and preserving it using the boiling water canner.

Saturday, April 10, 9am to 4:30pm, Talkeetna Senior Center
In the morning the class will can fish in jars, using a pressure
canner to process the fish. Discussion will include smoking fish,
canning in cans and related fishy topics. Potluck lunch. In the
afternoon the class will make a pickled product and start sauerkraut.
This is a busy schedule so come prepared to participate. Aprons are a good idea!
