Default Anyone wanna trade some skin for some flies?

I find myself out of Elk Hair. If any of you guys that harvest elk feel like sharing some hair, I'll return some flies.

Elk Hair is commercially available but I prefer the friendly method of procurement.

Ring Necks would also be appreciated!

Any other hide sections that may yield some flies would also be appreciated and the generosity will be reciprocated!

I have a beautiful tanned winter cape off a bull elk. I'm sure I have plenty to trim some off of it. PM with your details. Can't help with the pheasant.

    Got to have a photo.

What other kind of hair do you need? I have some caribou, dall sheep, and black bear.

Steve, I'd be happy to try about anything you have. Dall sheep would definately be interesting. I don't see why caribou or bear wouldn't work either.

    Great looking harvest!

I also have some blacktail hair as well. Kinda new to fly fishing, mostly grayling up this way.
Might try my luck on the Kenia this summer. Will get the box in the mail today for ya.
I'm more than happy to send you some hair for a few flies, but you could most likely get all the hair you needed form either a taxidermist or a trapper.

Won't be long now, the days are getting longer and warmer.

That sounds good, Deb. I've never tried quail. I'll try to remember to chat about it in the fall.

You keep us laughing. Hopefully, I'll get a few more ducks this year. We need a cast and blast float, maybe on the Gulkana.

I truly enjoy this forum. The quality of folks around here is high.

I hope a few extra lines are tightened around Fairbanks and Idaho from this exchange. I will definately do my part to tighten a few around here.

It's time to knock the dust off a few techniques and hopefully gain a better understanding of some new materials.

    S and T, I appreciate it!

I'm off to stare at shanks for a while.

I would suggest holding on to those supplies.

If you ever find a few hours free, break out the vise and use your internet connection.

Start simple and enjoy the materials that you have at your disposal.
