Well, I imagine you're going to be at the Board o' Fish meetings this weekend...let's grab that "soda pop" Saturday evening, maybe. I should be lurking around there, somewhere.

    Default refresh my memory

Hey do you guys remember what year it was that Tony Knowles and his henchman met in Kenai for the BOF meeting? Was it 96 or 97? I can't remember all I know is it was a black day for the economy of south central Alaska. Knowles smugly showed up in Kenai w/ his media and an entourage of armed trooper escorts. I hope our state never has to endure likes of that again! Alaska changed forever that fateful board cycle. I'm quite confident the current board will follow the age old rule of thumb....IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! enough w/ the cliches already, but in my humble opinion our states economy can't handle losing anymore industry to special interest. Turning personal use into subsistence is just another gut bomb in the long line of new socialist policies that are bringing this great nation down

Personal use and subsistance are one and the same, neither can be done for profit or sale. Both of these have nothing to do with the "free market".

they most certainly are not the same. Subsistence takes priority over ALL user groups. They do not have to bear the burden of conservation in times of shortages. Thats right, if there is a dismal run and they close personal use, sports fishing and commercial fishing, subsistence fisheries continue. If you look at the federal subsistence guidelines you can barter your subsistence harvest for anything including cash!

do not get the true definition of subsistence confused w/ the logic of a socialists bureaucratic definition

I agree feeding your family being subsistence but The Honorable Ken Salazar has other ideas on the matter
