Thread: Metal refinishing in Anchorage?

    Default Metal refinishing in Anchorage?

I have a Browning A Bolt that is showing wear and I want to get in refinished. I don't want to get it reblued but would prefer Teflon or Duracoat or something similar. I will be in Anchorage this week and was looking for someplace that would do it without sending it out of state. Any recommendations?

I would talk to Steve at Alaska Custom Firearms about his nitrate finish. It is very durable. I have 2 guns done in it now. He is a sponsor here.

Check out this outfit in Eagle River. I forget the name of the fellow - Larry I think. At any rate he did a durakote job on a 1911 of mine and it was a super job, 2 week turnaround, and has held up well.

This was a few years ago.

Steve, like us, sends his nitriding out of state...to the same place I may add.

    Default Advanced Coatings

In the valley bakes on a ceramic stuff thats suppose to be tough as nails, 892-3200
Cerakote. It has a ceramic base backbone. Nothing like getting your weapon coated in ceramic!
This product is applied to pistons in hi-perf engines. If that isn't a harsh environment for a coating,
It is applied at .5 to 1 mil.
