Default Gaiters with wire or strap ?

What do you prefer? The gaiters with the wire under the boot or the ones with the wide strap under ?

I have a pair of Cabelas Gore-tex gators with the wide nylon. I have had them for a couple years and don't have any complaints. The nylon has held up well and shows little wear. I'm happy with the strap.

The nylon strap could be a concern if you plan on spending alot of time climbing through the rocks.

Not much of a gaiter wearer. The only personally useful application I have found for gaiters is in snow and to keep the wind from blowing up pants while riding a horse at very high altitude in the winter. Others seem to have found them useful but I have not for the kind of hunting I usually do.

I have some homemade ones w/wide strap. Sometimes the snow will build up in a ball on the strap.

I have no experience with the wire ones. I use Outdoor Research gaitors which have a strap and work very well. They are very tough.
