    Default floating the Kenai

Is floating the middle Kenai in the first half of april a practical thing?

My brother wants to plan a float trip around that time and I was unsure how the river was during that period of time.

Depends on a couple of things, First, when will Skilak Lake become ice free? Second, how about the water level of the Kenai getting down the river and being able to get out at Bings. Water temp will another factor as far as if trout will be starting to exit there winter areas and head back to the Kenai. Best guess right now would still be a guess. I would wait until closer to the time that you are going and see how the conditions are and then make the call. You could always make a fall back plan of floating the Upper Kenai if all else fails.
