Default Please say hi at the BOG meeting

Well, will be flying out for the BOG in the next couple days, weather permitting.

Any members or lurkers who are going to the meeting, please feel free to introduce yourselves and say hi. I'll be the guy wearing a Backcountry Hunters ball cap. Always enjoy putting a face to the member name, and regardless if we agree or disagree on various mgmt issues would greatly enjoy shaking your hand and chatting.

    Cheers,

Weather permiting might be a deciding factor, Mark.

Got almost 2" of new snow here since last night and supposed to snow all week.

If the road's are to slick I won't be able to make it. Can't take the chance of a wreck with the way my neck is now. Give me a call when you get to town, and I'll make the call weather I want to chance it. Was really looking forward to this, so don't count me out.

BOG is a pursuit. The real treasure was in your arms. Enjoy what you hold! It's far more important!

    Congratulations!

Well I dropped in for an hour or so. Had lunch with a couple of member's, was wondering where you were Skip? I know, I did'nt call, just figured you would be there, lol. My Bad, however they said you were there earlier in the day, and when we were headed off for lunch I asked where you were and you wer'nt there. Now I would'nt know if they were lying or not, but I don't think they were. I think all were looking forward to the meal and some friendly conservation.

I guess I still owe you lunch, so maybe next time when I come up we can square up. Still looking forward to meeting you.

    E.S.

Yeah, I would have given my left arm (but not my left fibula) to be there and get a chance to meet some of you and attend the meeting. Maybe someday.

No doubt the highlight of the meeting. I have seen the emoting first hand and listened to the drivel. Entertaining, yet pathetic at the same time. Public speaking ain't for everyone, I guess, specially for those that have no idea on earth what they're talking about.

Do you or anyone else have any information on the changes proposed to the 40 mile caribou hunt? I've been listening to the link but must have missed it earlier in the week.

    Default GAredneck...

...I flew home today, and the 40-mile proposals hadn't been deliberated yet. They were due up today though, just got in and haven't yet heard how the Board voted.

Based on what I heard from talking with folks, it was likely that prop 14 from the Fortymile Caribou Working Group (5 Advisory Committees) was going to be passed. That proposal asked to move the start date of the hunt to August 29th for the roaded areas. And to make it a bull-only hunt.

Can't confirm it passed as of yet.

14 passed after much discussion. Adding a youth hunt was discussed but shot down.

Prop 13 was specifically noted as a well researched and written proposal, but they went with 14.

    Yk
