    Default Pinks in Kenai River

Our group will be staying in Soldotna in a house that backs onto the Kenai river during July 11th through July 14th. We have some guided trips lined up to fish the Kings, but was wondering if there will be any Pinks in the river during this time period? We will have our sons with us and and in case we strike out on the Kings, it would be something else for them to target.

We will also be fishing in Seward on a couple of combo trips prior to this and was lucky enough to get on Crackerjack!!!

    Much Thanks

No on the pinks. They'll start to show the last week of July.

You might be there on the front end of the red run. Forecast is not good this year for the reds.

Good thing you booked a few king trips because that might be the best thing going on the Kenai this July.

    Amen, brother... Amen.

It's possible you could get lucky on the reds during that timeframe. You'll need a combination of soft tides and a strong west-southwest wind to push those fish to the beach where they readily commit to the river. Without those conditions, kiss the odds goodbye.

Due to my work schedule, I cant be there during the "peak" runs. Since Monday July 12th is a non-guide day on the Kenai, we plan to take a fly-out trip to the West Side to fish and bear view. We always like to try something new each year.

Any suggestions or thoughts on whether we should target reds or silvers?? Also, we are just looking to have a fun time with our boys and give them something to remember.

    Thanks
