    Default Coast Guard NAV school

If there are vacancies - I'm considering registering for the Basic Coastal Navigation class offered by USCG Whittier Flotilla.

    Anyone out there attended these?

    Worth my time?

    comments?
    recommendations?

    thanks - WinMag

    WinMag:
It is an intense class....I learned more about navigation than I even knew existed! It made me a much more 'aware' boater especially about the effects of tide/current, fuel management, and general navigation skills. In today's electronic age, any novice can immediately become an 'expert' navigator with a GPS chart plotter. When you complete this class, you'll be able to navigate confidently without the electronic 'crutches'. The Whittier Flotilla is very good and puts on an excellent class at a very reasonable cost. You won't be disappointed!
