Default Barnes 200g TSX FB 300WSM?

Does anyone have any data for reloading the Barnes TSX FB 200g in a 300WSM? I have been searching for awhile. Powders I have available are RE-19, RE-15, RE-22, H4895 and varget. That's just what I have in my stocks right now that might fit this round. I was wanting to use the RE-22 but haven't found any data for it.

There's a good chance that Barnes will have the data if you give them a call. They have helped me out in the past. Alliant might also have some data.

This is from the Barnes Manual #4

    Barnes 200gr FB 300 WSM

    RL 15 min 47.0 velocity 2405 max 53.0 velocity 2600

That is the only load that matches your powder.

It list Hunter as the most accurate powder.

    Other Powders for that bullet.

    Big Game
    RL 15
    H380
    Win 760
    H414
    IMR 4350
    H4350
    Hunter
    H4831sc
    IMR 7828ssc

    Steve,
Seems like the powders I have on hand aren't the best for that load. Doesn't seem like I'll get much velocity. I'm working up a load for a back up gun for Kodiak Brownies this spring. Powder selection isn't what it used to be here in North Pole. Could you give me the data for Hunter, I'll see if I can find some around here.

    Thumbs up

Suggest bullets no heavier than 180gr for the 300 WSM due to short neck and powder space. The 180 TSX will handle everything in Alaska. I prefer Reloader 19 with the 180gr TSX or Nosler Part and IMR 4831 with the 165 gr bullet.

AKhunterNP - I too will be on Kodiak with my 300 WSM this April. No experience with the 200 grainers but I just worked up the following load:

    69 grains RE 19
    COAL 2.825
    Federal Mag primer
    180 gr TSX

I had a 5 shot group yesterday that was .75" at 100 yds and 4 of those shots were in 1 ragged hole - yahoo! I shoot a Tikka T3-Lite.

The Barnes Manual says 62.5 (min) and 69.5 (max) for RL-19. Max velocity being 3036. This data is on the Barnes website.

Good luck with the load and with the 10 footers!

Any idea how far off the lands that combination was?

The 180 TSXs are 3.036" to the lands on my rifle. The C.O.A.L on my handloads is 2.825, so the bullet is 0.21 off the lands. That's a long ways but the results suggest it's just fine!

My 180 grain Sierra Gameking load is 0.20 off the lands and it's a great shooting load as well.
