    Default Snowest sucks

Some of you may already be aware that Snowest forums is going to a pay format. within a few months if you want to view anything you have to sign up and give them a credit card number to view postings.

I suspect that more and more folks will be posting here. Which is great. Can the moderator on here possibly move or create some of the same postings on here that are currently on Snowest? For instance, the riding areas, are posted with updates. They have separate forums for the different manufactures and problems people are having.

I'm personally done with Snowest, anyone else feel the same?

What is the "Snowest Forums"? Never heard of 'em.

Why would anyone need forums other than what is right here at AOD?

I think the forums here are broken down plenty good enough. We don't have enough traffic to go busting the snowmachining forum up into so many different parts. I hate trying to read some of the other forums (boats for instance) that have been broken up into so many different sub-forums. If the traffic levels increased, maybe, but certainly not the way things are right now.

    BAR300-

Lots of free sites, including this one, if that's what you want. No need to bash other sites here. It's up to them if they want to charge, up to you if you want to pay.

    Cheers.

I haven't paid attention to snowest in over 3 years. Too many people over there had formed a 'good ol' boys club' and there was a TON of stupid crap being discussed. You had to sift thru 6 hours of garbage to come out with one little bit of useful info. They ticked off a lot of guys who knew what they were talking about and they ended up leaving and we lost a bunch of good info with them.

For Ski-Doo stuff http://www.dootalk.com is useful. I mostly look in the Skandic/Expedition section but there is still good info throughout the site. I'm sure other brands have their own forums too. Pretty sure I've heard a Yamaha one.

I heard that backcountryrebels.com had ~2,500 new members in the past month due to the Snow-West changes. I guess everyone decided to up and go elsewhere...

IMO, grow your forum with free memberships and in-turn, your advertisers will pay to reach said audience...

    X2 what EagleRiverDee said.
No need to bash. If a site isn't for you, just don't go there. Another good brand specific site is: www.totallyamaha.com (TY forums) Lots of good tech info.

Hardcoresledder.com has been around a pretty long time and has even sold once. Real good technical info for sleds and ATV's of all brands. There was many folks from these parts on there and they all migrated over to Snowest and I am sure some will be back or move on to other sites to include here.

Just found out I lost my privileges for Snowest too. Been checking out that sight for 6 years. The Alaska riding forum was pretty bad. Nothing useful there, just a bunch of back and forth banter. Will have to check out some of the above sites.
