    Default carhartt rain gear

    Has anyone tried the carhartt pvc rain parka and bibs? Opinions

    Yes, and I'd give it a solid "Meh"

    They work, but I'd never buy them again. Too stiff and uncomfy for me. Helly's are much nicer IMHO and worth the extra $$.

    I bought the top for moose hunting. Gave them a try. They work fine for light use. Get into any thick stuff and are at risk of ripping easy.
    The material does not fare as good a grundens or Helly. Spend the extra money and get the Grundens if you want heavy or Hellys for lighter, and you'll get alot more life out of them.

    There are two versions (at least) of the Carhartt rainwear. One version is a PVC like the heavier Helly and Grunden. The second is stretchy like the Helly Impertech. I have the stretchy version of the Carhartt coat and I don't like it. The snaps are chrome, which is too flashy for hunting and the fit was weird for me. I far prefer the Helly Impertech to it.
