    Default Kenai Pen. Race!

Now that I have your attention, I am interested in soliciting any stories or photos of the race which used to take place between Soldotna and Homer. This historical event fascinates me as it seems so foreign today with all the restrictions. Anybody remember it?

Never even heard of such a thing. How many decades ago did this reportedly occur?

Lots of good races have gone by the wayside... Talkeetna to Anchorage for the Rondy, Hatcher Pass for the Willow Winter Carnival..

I used to watch that race as a kid with my dad. We would park along the highway and watch the racers fly by WFO. Had a cousin break his leg on that run, 1973 rings a bell.

Thinking about coming up for the start of the ID Sunday. Go 14...

"The local snow machine clubs used to put on annual races from Soldotna to Homer and back. It was usually a two-day event and was called the Kenai 200: the distance being 200 miles to Homer and back. These races were run from the late 1960s to the late 1970s..."
