Southeast AK Air Taxi
Going to hunt the southeast for the first time this fall. Any recommendations for a reputable and safe taxi service? I'm planning on hunting 1B for goat and deer. My preference is to fly out of Ketchikan.

Unit 1B is the Wrangell area ... quite aways from Ketchikan.
I believe Wrangell only has one local charter service ... Sunrise Air.
Unit 1A is east and north of Ketchikan.
1B snakes all the way down to myers chuck.
closed to Goat
That part of the Cleveland Pen 1a & 1b is closed to Goat hunting.
Goat is open at the base or east part of the Cleveland and most hunters use Wrangell not Ketchikan to fly in there. 1b is the Bradfield drainage closer to Wrangell. The Deer population in that part (tyee lake) of 1b is not very good to none.
I would think a combo Deer / Goat hunt farther north in 1b could be possible but difficult.
I guided in that area for 4 or 5 years. Never did see a Deer on the Goat hunts.
And have only seen deer while hunting Goats in the Misty (1a) a few times and the density of mainland Deer is better in 1a than 1b ...

Or Family Air, Promech, Taquan, Carlin Air, Southeast Aviation or Island Wings with Michelle.
We flew out of Ketchikan on a couple of spring black bear hunts. Southeast did a great job for us. Very good pilot & very accomodating.
My mistake. I meant 1A. Are there any forest service cabins in the goat country?
No ... USFS cabins are for fishing. Don't expect to see Deer up in the Goat rocks. It is rare indeed.
