    Default Coleen

I'd be interested to hear of your experiences (good & bad) of float hunting the Coleen in September.

    Thanks

Funny you should mention that, go to the PV forums, there is a guy that hunted it last fall. You should contact him and see what he has to say.

That may be the same Colleen I floated once for about a year and a half. Consider yourself lucky Vince, $200, you got off cheap

    Default Coleen info

    King,

This thread looks like you're having trouble finding info on this. Here is some info (maybe you already have this; if so, sorry) on the Coleen:

Larry Bartlett writes about it: http://www.outdoorsdirectory.com/akf...ting/11148.htm

Here its described as "the most remote spot in Alaska": http://www.gi.alaska.edu/ScienceForum/ASF16/1670.html

    Some fine photography of it:

A lodge you might float past:

A friend and I did a DIY air-taxi float-hunt on the Colleen 2 yrs ago in Sept- we both shot 55ish bulls - had a great time. In 10 days we saw one other raft. PM if you would like more info.

Kingfisher - here is one of my old posts I told you about, when we where planning this and thinking of the Sheenjek, orginally - we heard at last minute that the Sheenjek was a zoo and we did the Colleen.

Looks like our put-in was double or divide mtn - not sure which of those is correct, but I think all pilots that do that river will know - it is the uppermost airstrip, I think.

Sorry, I am getting the rivers mixed up - those 2 names of course belong to the upper Sheenjek. as mentioned in PM, will eventually get you the exact names and coord's! CG
