    Default 597 magnum 17HMR issues

Does anyone know if the 597 magnum in 17hmr can be fixed? I don't want to give my baby up to the the Remington commies but want this rifle to be safe since my son shoots it also.

If it could be fixed I am sure Remington would have figured out a way to do so. That would be a lot cheaper than paying return postage on thousands of rifles and offering cash rebates on new product. Buy one of the nice CZ bolt actions.

Sorry for you misfortune. I have a 597 LSHB .22 Win. Mag. it has been flawless, love it. It likes the metal magazines, chokes on the plastic magazines.

I have heard rumor that it could be a head space issue but also heard its because of the action. IMAO Remington is making out like a bandit with the way the are handling it. A coupon to buy another remington rifle at MSRP. I have inquired about them rebarreling this to a 22 mag but you get the same response, send in rifle and we will send you a coupon. Also if you send in Remington .17 HMR ammo, they will give you $10 per 50 rounds but walmart is selling it for over $20 bucks. They can keep their coupon and I will keep my $600 rifle.

I have my 597 packed back up in the box but I have not called Remington yet. It's real hard to swallow loosing almost $200.00 in the deal. I REALLY wish they would just swap out the barrels and make it a 22 mag so I guess I'm just holding my breath, hoping they make this an option.....

AGL4now, I PMed you earlyer (unless I didnt press the send button)

    Lawyers.......

Apparently there was an out of battery incident that caused failed case and injury. I keep mine clean and have had NO problems. It shoots like a dream everytime I squeeze the trigger. I'll be keeping mine....your mileage may vary.
