$67 for 8 vests, $48 for the shipping, I don't know what they run at sportsmans, but I'm assuming this is still a pretty decent deal? 13-14 bucks a vest?

Thanks, I just ordered some too. Seems like the selection is low, so if you want them don't wait. I didn't get my first choice of color, but at that price it dosent matter.

Just curious... the website clearly states that they do not ship any of the inflatable vests to Alaska because they are restricted to ground carrier only... or did I miss something?

I think it said they would only send them ground. When I ordered it they did not allow air delivery. I think I selected parcel post and it went. Hopefully they will ship, since it sounds like they have a lot of potential sales in AK.

Here is the quote from the website about shipping of any inflatable vest that has a CO2 cartridge...

...due to carrier shipping restrictions, this product MUST ship by Ground ONLY.

No shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and overseas.

Ground shipping does not include overnight, 2-day, 3-day or USPS Priority Mail.

    Seems pretty clear to me.

When you go into place an order, you get something a bit different:

    Shipping Method Amount

    UPS Ground Residential $9.25
Second Day PM (NOT AK,HI,PR) $0.00
    USPS Priority Mail $17.67

If it doesn't work, I figure out that I am no worse off than if I didn't place the order. I will post an update if I get an Email from them saying that they won't ship to me.

    Default Bummer

Just got this response to my order:
    "Good morning,

Thank you for your recent order. Unfortunately, due to shipping restrictions on the C02 cartridge contained in the vest ordered, we would not be able to ship this item to you in AK. All available shipping methods for Defender are by air and air shipments cannot carry the cartridge. As we could not fulfill your order as requested, it has been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes."

I just received the same one, I called them and had them ship it by ground to Northland Services in Seattle.

Northland is guessing around $30, but that still makes the PFD a good deal. I didn't ask if Defender would ship the PFD minus the cartridge, but that could be a different method.

    Default Nope...

I checked w/ Defender and they said they would not take the C02 out, so I'm following your great suggestion to have them forwarded to Northland Services in Seattle, then onto the barge to KTN....

Did anyone do this through Northland Services to Anchorage? I just called and the quoted me that their minimum charge is $171 to get a package up here. Kind o makes it not a good deal anymore.

If you got the $30 price to Anchorage, can I ask who you talked to?
