    Default stock checkering

    I just placed a order for a Richards Microfit dual grip thunbhole stock for my m96 swedish mauser. for thoose of you who dont know they make 96% and 99% action inlet unfinnished stocks. but im looking for a some help with checkering, i want to get some done on the fore end and pistol grip section of the new stock. does any one have any reconmedtions for a skilled wood worker that could help me out in the fairbanks area

    I hope it turns out good for you Richards has a hit and miss reputation... I guess like most companies some guys have had great luck with them and other jus tbad luck. The inletting was not good and nowhere close to thier 96-99% they claim... Also thier Delivery time is nowhere to what they claim.That's why I stick to Boyds for that stuff, if I want a black walnut stock I buy the blank from a reputable dealer and send it off to a shop that turns them and does the inletting several good outfits out thier With great reputations.

    Larry Dalrymple in Fairbanks, he's not cheap, but he turns out professional work. I think his number is in the book.
