    FAIRBANKS - Prohibitions on winter snow machine travel and hunting access along the Dalton Highway would relax under a bill proposed Friday by two lawmakers, including Rep. Mike Kelly.

    Current laws generally restrict the use of snow machines within five miles of the highway to oil and gas development crews or miners. The bill, co-sponsored by Kelly and Wasilla’s Rep. Mark Neuman, would lift the restriction from October through the end of April each year.
    I can't even count all the ways this is a HORRIBLE idea, and I was a math major.

    Ah, I didn't realize it was the same thing, since this one just turned up in the News-Miner today. The DNM didn't mention the reduction of the corridor to 1/4 mile, which was one of the biggest shockers in what AK River Rat posted. I guess the news today is that they actually introduced the bill.

    It's House Bill 267. It doesn't seem to be online yet, but hopefully someone can post it here when the full text is available.

    wow that is kind of the short version of the draft i saw.. in sence just removing the language that prohibits the use in the winter months.

    i still do not see it going anywhere as the land use agreement is set in stone.. and the feds will never allow it on there land.. THEY HATE atv use up there.
