Default Opinions!: Merkel 141 vs Chapuis double rifle

Anyone have any experience between the small frame Merkel 141 and the Chapuis UGEX double rifles (in either 30-06 or 9.3x74R)? The Merkel is more expensive and wondered if they're "worth" the extra money. Thanks in advance!

Try asking the same question here:

My only experience is with the Chapuis and mine has shot my last two moose. Which ever one you choose I would suggest you stay with a rimmed cartridge.

The Merkel is a very nice rifle but the auto safety needs doing away with. I think the 7x57R would be a better choice than 30-06,9.3x74R would be my favorite of what you can get it in. A set of 28ga barrels would round it out real well.

Don't guess you might be Hoser from the DoubleGunShop forum

Yeah, but I'm only doing 3006 for practicality of ammo availability. I think if I was not doing that, I'd go with 9.3x74R. I'm sure that's a cool round, but I'm afraid I'd start driving myself nuts thinking about too many different calibers!

We are both Merkel dealers and Blaser dealers. I like the Blaser over the merkel, but both over the Chapuis
