Default Deshka Landing Trails Report 1/7/09

As a courtesy, if you ride over a stake or see a stake on the ground can you please put it back up. We have received some reports of some stakes being run over, but not placed back up. Thanks!

    Temperatures:

High temps have increased this week to 28 F on Wednesday. We missed most of the rain and had about 1" of snow come down on Wednesday, followed by very wet snow/sleet. At 9:00 am on Thursday the temperature is 24 F.
    Weather History

Snow Depth At Landing Parking Lot:

We received about 1" of wet snow on 1/6. This is the first snow since 12/21.

    Trail Conditions:

The Big Su was groomed down to the Deshka River on Tuesday evening. Signs have been placed out on the trails down to the mouth of the Yentna. The Deshka Crossover trail from Corral Hill to Susitna Landing has been put in. The trails were very hard through last weekend, but with this warm-up things might have changed slightly. It has been slightly slow the past few days, so limited information coming in. We will hopefully get some more reports of the conditions on Thursday and Friday, so call us if you need them. 495-3374

    Default Update

    From Calvin F.:
Trails in good shape from Yentna Station to the Landing. Looks and feels like no one has done much grooming north of Yentna Station.

    From Bob P.:
Came in from Mile 16 Yentna Wednesday evening. The trail down the yentna had spots of overflow showing with the recent warmup. Looks like it will get worse. The Susitna is bumpy but no overflow. The open water section by the point has grown much larger over the last two days. Be careful to stay on the trail!
