    Question Shipping a bear rug

I'm looking at getting a polar bear rug shipped up from the lower 48. It's been in the family for decades. Are there any laws (and where would I find them) about shipping or transfer of posession?

Any documentation prior to the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 will leave the bear hide outside any regulations.

I'm pretty sure the bear was taken in the late 60's (grandpa's guide days). And, as far as I know, there isn't any documentation with the rug at this point. If I could dig them up, there may be some old family photos showing the rug during that time, but I'm sure they wouldn't have any dates on them.

Rod, I'd contact the Fish and Wild life guys in Anchorage.

    Thanks to those who replied.

And "thanks" to the site admin for moving my thread to the "proper" sub-forum. However, I would have rather had the thread deleted than have it languish in an unread sub-forum.

So, please either move this thread back to where I originally put it, or delete it in its entirety.

By the way, just for comparison, here are a few other threads that have been allowed to remain in the "improper" forum.

These are all from the FIRST PAGE of the hunting forum, where I had posted this thread. And they are all topics that should be in another specific hunting sub-forum, or aren't hunting related at all.

    So, what gives here?
