    Default Metal Barrels

Where would one find metal 55 gal barrels in Fairbanks? I need one for a barrel stove and a couple with locking lids. Thanks

Give Petro Star/Sourdough a call. The ones with locking bands are typically grease barrels and most lubricant jobbers will have them.

Might try a bakery too. Some of the ones with locking lids come with honey or some sort of commercial sweetener in them. Food grade and the rim is maybe a little heavier. Sometimes on CL in Anchorage.

If you are looking to use them as burn barrels, Vertex Insulation off Hansen Road usually has a few barrels outside their gate, free for the taking. There's a place off Deere Road that has a sign up for free barrels (non-locking lids), and quite a stack, but I never see anyone there to determine if they are truely available or not.

Have used the ones from Vertex for scrap metal, old oil & burn barrels without any problems.
