    with the fire making thing. Looks interesting, was thinking that if you were in an emergency situation and your hands were near frozen, it might be easier to pour than to try to work a blast match or something that required more dexterity. Ordering it looks to be a PITA...

    It's a controlled product which is used in water treatment plants. I think you would have some legal issues if caught with some on your person, for it is bomb making material, being a very powerful oxidant

    Default Tombo is correct:

    It is used in water filtration, even at the domestic level. About 20 some years ago I had a Sears water filter which used it. It was a very reddish crystaline substance that needed to be poured into one of two tanks.

    Perhaps see a person who does water filtration such as a Culligan. Explain to him what you want it for, and maybe he could put you onto a source.
