I broke the shift cable( 9 footer)to a 25 hp yahama the other day. Seems there was some water slash moisture in the belly of the cable as it rises up to enter the outboard. Does anyone have a tip or trick to share on how to help prevent this---I was thinking some type of moisture inhibitor like isopropyl then some marine grade heat shrink over the little rubber caps that never seem to stay in place?? ANy ideas thoughts??? I'm just gonna replace both of them since I have the whole thing torn apart---I live in a rainforest(equals wet) that has multiple freeze and thaw periods during the winter hence my problem. I keep the whole outfit under my carport and am thinking of putting a cover over the controls.
