    not necessarly to hunt, but to tag along...can,t find any REGS against it...

    Yes. There is a restriction for big game but none for small game. Dogs are routinely used for hares.

    Default My lab doesn't hunt but loves to be in the woods...

    And whether the dog hunts or not seems like it would matter. My dog tends to range out in front of me, 60 yards or so. She seems to enjoy all the new scents in the woods.

    But I haven't taken her hare hunting because that 60yds ahead means the hares always know I'm coming sooner. I think my dog would spook hares that are already tough to spot. They'd have 60 yds warning to lope off into deeper cover until I've gone by. In a way, any hunting is over by the time I roll up.
