    Default Super Blacktail

I have been enjoying the deer photos of Kodiak and Southeast, everyone seems to be having a stellar season thus far. This is a photo of a deer I got from a local old timbercutter who was cleaning out the shed and thought my folks would like to see it when they stayed here. Don't know too much about, I did measure them and the spread is 15 inches and they are 16 inches tall. 6X5 with eyegaurds.

    Default Being swayed

Ok.....you've renued hope in me that POW still holds the biggest and baddest BT. Although I happen to know Dall Island is a sleeper with a super genetic mix.

Thanks for posting.......he's a special buck.

    Default One nice buck!

You put a tape to it? When I get bored this winter, I'd love to score that buck!

That thing is enormous for a Blacktail. That thing would be huge in California.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming-----WOW-----what a ride!

There is no mention that it was actually taken in AK. It looks to be a columbia blacktail? If the guy was a logger maybe he harvested it on the west coast before moving up here? Oregon or Washington??

    Default The deer

Haven't put a tape to it although I plan to as soon as I slow down, life's tough king fishing ans trying for steelies ;-) As for it being a Columbia, I doubt it he said he killed it near Lab Bay in the 80's but who knows. I know he was originally from Montana and he has some HUGE blacktails in his shed. Glad he gave me this one.

    Default Unofficial Score

Well I had a fella come over to score the deer and it came up to 116 2/8 after deductions. He was pretty impressed, we went over to look at a few of his other deer this old guy had and one is bigger I think but he said he didn't care too much for 'record' deer just likes to hunt 'em. Not official but a nice deer none the less!

Here's another one for ya. Name that road!

Speaking of California, if you decide to sell it on ebay, hit me up with the item number. I'd like to possibly buy it, mount it, and take 'field photos' with it....

    Sorry, couldn't resist....

    Beaut for sure!

I know exactly where that field is, I recognize those old cut logs. No shots fired in the video. How disappointing.

Not that Im doubting you; but that is seriously impressive. I can think of at least 2 dozen roads that look exactly like that, old buckskins and all.

It looks most like a road on the mental health land over by Kasaan to me.

    Default sure looks big!!

Definitely a huge deer, but looks to be a columbian IMO. Just doesn't look like its from around Southeast AK. Ask the old man questions.....I want to know where it came from...details??? blacktailcountry.com has some good pics to compare with.
