Lost in the Everglades
Slightly interesting story about being lost in the everglades for four days.
Key points to remember:
When lost stop moving. Isn't this boyscout safety rule No 1?
Know how to use a compass, including what makes a compass "not work". Actually I should state "know how to navigate on land." The frequent cause of a compass not working is the large void between a person's ears.
Know how to use a GPS. If you can't use a compass a GPS could make things worse. Compasses don't need batteries or a clear view of the sky.
Good grief, the forces of natural selection tried their best on this one....
