Default Need to get a handgun to Valdez from FBKS

What would be the simplest method? Price may factor in this as well

    Thank you,
    Bill

"Simplest".....perhaps take it yourself, I think you are asking for trouble to have someone else take it for you...not to even broach the subject of ownership and approiatness of the final recipient of the firearm....yup, simplest ? take it yourself...IMHO

Was thinking of ffl transfers. Or is it legal to ship within the state?

Ship it on either Everetts or Alaska Airlines. Gold Streak on Alaska Airlines and I don't know what Everetts calls their parcel delivery service. Quite legal to ship within the State of Alaska without going through an FFL. What ever you do, do not mail it as only FFL holders can ship handguns via USPS.

That is what I was wondering. But since only ERA flys into Valdez...would Alaska transfer it to ERA?

Sorry to be such a pain. Just was hoping someone had done this before. I can call the airlines in the AM.

    Danke,
    Bill

    Default UPS

FedEx is probably best. Better office and three drivers here. UPS has one van running and comes down from GlennAllen. Only Era flies in here. There is a van service too but only from Anchorage to Val.

AK Air will coordinate with ERA. AK Air is gold streak; ERA speedy delivery is called Dash - same/same.

Just take it to the AA counter and ship to Valdez. Mark the package and make sure the agent marks the airbill as follows:

    HOLD FOR PICKUP

    NOA 555.1212

NOA=notify on arrival with a "real" phone number.

FedEx only takes firearms from dealers. I haven't used UPS, but I hear you can but it has to be overnighted. Call UPS.

    Default Last

My last firearm out of Valdez was by FedEx. The overnight thing is for shipping to the lower 48 and up. You can't ship overnight to Valdez anyways from the L48.

    Default no go

Goldstreak said I couldn't ship a handgun unless it was going to an FFL

    Default Call

Call FedEx and ask. I have shipped handguns and long guns to myself across the state by mail and Alaska Air Cargo. (pre 9/11).

If you are transfering to another individual you probably have to go FFL.

Did they say that was a Company Policy or Federal Law? If they said Federal Law they are lying. I can show you the Federal Laws about shipping by common carriers.

They quoted policy I think. But it will be shipped to another person not to myself so I think that it may be law. If it is not, I'd like to know. This is why I posted this here. Good learned folks
