    Thumbs up pow deer hunting

I was wondering if staying in a state cabin on the north side of the island would be
    successful

You probably won't shoot too many deer staying in the cabin but you should find some bucks available on the north end if you get out in the woods.

There are no deer on the North end of the Island.

Once you go by the coffman cove turn off you may as well flip a b****. No deer to be seen.

    Southend--Polk inlet area

and where ever you can find them.

    Default Northend/Southend

That only leaves a few hundred miles to look.
Even a jackass won't stumble on the same stone twice.

That's covered under 'where ever you can find them'.

Im talking about you had six posts in several different threads... All of them practically exactly the same. You have been given different information and good information. Unfortunately for you you haven't been given more specifics. Chances are this is because we simply do not know.. or simply do not care to divulge specific information to the public.

For what its worth, if I remember right hte salmon bay cabin is off the road system. So your chances go up since the pressure is going to be much less.
Deer hunting is NOT rocket science. There are deer all over the island. Pick a spot. Hunt hard. Either the deer gods will smile on you or they won't. Theres a ton of information here and other places regarding prince of whales and blacktail hunting. Littering threads asking the same question repeatedly is not the most effective tactic.

Best of luck with your deer hunt.

Default Polk Inlet was a good spot this year

My hunting camp in Polk Inlet took a total of 25 deer out of Polk Inlet this year.

Taquan Air will fly you into Polk Inlet for 105.00 each way from Ketchikan.

Seaplane may be the only way in and out right now. 19" of snow at Pass Lake last week.

Salmon Bay wouldn’t be my first choice!.... You’re limited to walking from the cabin or boating around the lake. A vehicle on the 1100 miles of road gives you lots more options, sounds like Polk is where you want to be!.....grin

Hunting hasn't been great around here this year. Polk inlet is hunted so heavily its probably a waste of time. The last time I drove around, there were so many trucks and hunters it was ridiculous. The very best option is to get far away from the main island. Its easier said than done, but my tags are filled.
