Default First cat on the call!!

Well I shot this last friday morning just below the house here, and finally getting around to sharing it with everyone. I wasn't expecting this bugger to show up, I was thinking more of fox. But I wasn't complaining. Got my first cat on a call and broke in the new gun and called him in 22yds. and shot him with .17hmr Savage 20 gr. bullet. The best of all I got it all on video, I'll try to get it uploaded here soon and post it, as you don't see hardly any lynx taken on video. Also went out yesterday to my "cat hole" trying to get a buddy of mine his first cat and should of trusted my gut feeling, cuz instead of stopping and calling where I thought we should we opted to go check out the other spot for sign, didn't see much and on our way back to where we should of been was a cat standing in the middle of the road 1000yds up from us in the truck. That won't happen again!!

well i started off with some vole squeaks for a bit, trying to see if there were any foxes close by. Then went to the snowshoe hare, I was using the foxpro 3 my girlfriend got me for my birthday this summer, so I would have to say it works. Crapy pictures, but trying to video by yourself and all doesn't always turn out so hot. But at least I got some good video of him before I did it in.

Congratulations. I called one in yesterday to 20 feet and got it. No piuctres though. They are so cool to watch moving all stealthy like.

Nice job on the cat Mike. It does look to be decent sized. I'd be interested to see the movie.

What part of the world are you in AK Sportsman?

    Default Going to eat it?

I have had cougar and lynx both. They are very good. Both were light colored meat, and short muscle groups, like pork. If done in a soup, gumbo, or stew, not sure most people would know it from pork.
Anybody else have a good recipe for cat?

And by the way, congratulations. Thanks for sharing.

    Default got one too

I got this guy on a call a few days ago. I was just about ready to get up and leave when he stepped out about 150 yards away. I wasn't expecting a kitty.

I've had lynx in stir-fry, and it is excellent. I'll certainly be eating any cats I'm fortunate enough to call in.

Man, it must be a good year for cats. I've seen five so far this season, and my buddy and managed to bag one saturday night.

Remember, if you don't post pics it didn't happen. Of course you know we believe you we just really want to see the pics. There sure are a lot of early reports of success on cats, must be a strong year.
