Can't tell in the picture - did you trap it, or were you calling? Congrats either way!

Mouth call or electronic? It looks dark - were you hunting by moonlight, or did you use a spotlight?

Nice job. Went out calling a little yesterday myself. Short day, only three stands. Lots of prey and pred tracks but no takers. Nice day to be out.

We used a hare in distress mouth call, however, an electronic is the way to go most of the time. It's tough to keep up calling for 15 or 20 minutes.

My friend and I were calling as a team and I was on shotgun duty. We had finished a stand and were starting to walk out. We actually got her on the way out. We walked up to within 10 yards before we saw it and I gave her a dose of 00 buck.

I'm guessing she was hanging back and we just got lucky enough to walk into her. The picture was taken some time later right before we loaded her up in the truck so there was still some light when we got her.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet besides having another guy I know teach me how to skin it. My girlfriend wants me to get a full size mount but I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of coin on it.

I don't think I can stress enough to people how good of an education you can get by just going out and doing it. I am a 1000% better predator hunter after one day in the field.

Mv Those small mounts are not that bad... when you look at tanning alone.

PM huntress, in the valley her taxi has great prices and does great natural work... if i mounted a cat it would be laying down and head paw on a hair or bird...

also.. cats are notoriously slower then canine... sets will run you nearly twice as long if you know they are in the area....

Another cool cat mount is the Research Mannikins L-230 form. I'm mounting one of mine now. I hope to put it in a glass coffee table display. Here's the link to the lynx
