    Default 700 stocks

    so i just picked up a remington model 700 bdl in 270. the wood stock was beat up and i want to replace it i found a factory 700 bdl synthetic stock off a 7mm rum will that stock fit on my 270

    The barrel channel on the RUM stock will be a bit bigger than the barrel on your .270, but yes, the stock will fit. All Remington 700 long actions are the same length, regardless of caliber.

    Whatcha gonna do with your wood?

    You can always refinish it, as well as modify it to a more comfortable fit than you can a plastic stock.
    Wood wont freeze to your face,or bare hands and you can shave dry wood for an emergency fire starter.....
    I take off the cheek and comb, so I can get my cheek down , comfortabley , to use my open sights, as I dont use scopes, with winter face gear and beaver cap/hood on.
    I also shorten the butt about 1-1/2 inces, because I wear alot in winter.

    Maby save it for a Winter stock, if your handy with wood.
    If you can't Kill it with a 30-06, you should Hide.

    i planned on keeping the wood for as i prefer it but i picked it up mainly for my wife and would like the weight reduction for her

    thanks dan i guess my biggest question was if the rum was a long action
