Great bear, great video. What kind of camera are you using? I'm in the market for a new one, just not sure what to get. Your pic's look great

    Default Camera

I am using a Sony HDV-1000. It has a 20x 72mm Optical Lens and it has great low light performance. It is a bit spendy, but worth it if you are going to get fairly serious about outdoor video.

I have also used a Canon GL2, (Kodiak Mountain Goat 2006 video) which is a bit smaller and has a 20 x optical zoom. It is an excellant camera, but does not have the low light performance of the Sony, which not be a big deal if all of your hunting is in Alaska, It is a straight DV camera.

    Thumbs up way to go!

Nice bear. I am motivated and will take the boat to Prince William sound next spring. It's been about 3 years since I chased the black bear.

    Default PWS Spring Bear Hunting

    Thanks!
I would suggest finding a great spot and setting up. Where I setup is a natural hwy, it seemed like many of the bears we saw, were just traveling through. We saw a bunch of bears that just never stepped out on the big grass flat we were setup behind (tons of Skunk Cabbage in the creek).

It seemed like a lot of boats were just cruising through and missing a bunch of bears.

    Morning Scotty,
Steve was shooting a 7mm mag. He didn't go very far :-) He was in one hell of a hole in a bunch of deadfall. Quite the job getting him out of there.
