Default How do you KNOW "You got Your Moose or "YOUR" Bear"

Always Cracks me up when I hear, "I got My Moose yesterday". or "I got my bear". I always wonder HOW do they know that........? I mean what if they got someone Else's moose. Maybe their moose was in a different meadow. We all do it........just for fun, the next time someone say's, I Got MY moose.....ask, are you sure you got the correct one......

I always make sure before I release an arrow. I'd be real upset with myself if I accidentally shot somebody else's bear or moose. That's just rude.

Its a thoughtless and rude way to say your goingto hunt something.
    It isnt walmart out there.
It aint yours till you get it home.

I figure if there's no one else's name on him he's mine I haven't stumbled across anyone else's critter yet so I figure I'm good to go.

I did this once. Got up to the moose and saw someone else s name on his collar. Fortunately with a little CPR I revived him and sent him on his way.

I do a bunch of catch and release fishing so I thought I would try the shoot and release hunting but I have not been that successful at it yet :-)

Because they gave themselves to me rather than presenting themselves to someone else.

    Thumbs up

My five year old son told me that I didn't get a moose this year because someone else must have shot them first. I guess that is why I never got "my moose" this year!

How does this work with grizzly bears? Do you brand em while they are still hibernating or use a tranquilizer?

    I'll answer that question:
Once your bullet or arrow enters an animal, you are legally required to harvest that animal. That legal requirement belongs to you and only you. If your bullet or arrow kills the animal, you are then legally required to salvage parts of that animal.
It is not that the animal is "mine" before I find it. But once I shoot it, it is then, legally, mine.

Cool i shot the wrong moose (rotflmao)

the little forky i got this year had been hanging around the neighborhood for weeks, at least half a dozen hunters saw him and knew he was around.
my closest neighbor was hunting hard every day, but when i stumbled into the little bull, he was up at portage with another friend who had the cow tag up there... wasn't even here...

so his wife tells a mutual friend that i "shot (his) moose, he had been tracking it all summer"...

    Default My Moose?

I shoot someone else's moose every year, because I'm sure 'my' moose is bigger then a spike/fork.... I'm hoping anyhow!

It is like someone saying, "Throw daddy down the stairs, a pillow". If a hunter Say's, "I got a moose" (that states that they got a moose). On the other hand to say, "I got MY moose" (That presupposes that there was a correct moose to have gotten).
