    Default Shooting Competition Schedule (IDPA/USPSA)

I thought i would post the IDPA and USPSA schedule for everyone. I just started going to these in January and it is the most fun shooting i have ever had. If you are interested in improving your shooting skills and having a lot of fun doing it, you should come check it out. There is also a bunch of info on the net about these shooting sports. Most of the matches in the winter are at the Matanuska Valley Sportsman's Range in Palmer. You can call them for more info and pricing 907-746-4862. I hope to see you there!

The only shooting matches I've seen are on the outdoor channel! Are the matches open to the public to view? I'd like to check it out sometime. How long do matches last?

Yes, the matches are open to the public. They are free to watch but bring your gun and gear in case you change your mind and want to shoot. There will also be plenty of people there to answer any questions you may have. They usually start around 9:30 ish and end about 2PM. Hope to see you there.

    Default Fairbanks uspsa

This sat & sun a uspsa match at the fairbanks Fish & Game range on college. Start times are 830.

Go to www.aimcomm.org and click on the TAPS link on the left side of page. You'll find dates & times. Call Mark and talk to him, good dude.

Also, when the snow melts Bill @ Pro Tec has steel challange matches at his range. These Steel matches are a hoot, I love shooting them. Call Bill, pro tecs phone # is in the book, and get on his email list. Lots of training going on out there too. Competition and self-defense.

I was told I would need 150 rounds to complete the match, 3 mags, holster that remains open when the gun is removed and covers the trigger and a belt mag holder for the additional 2 mags.

I just shot in my first match for IDPA. If you have not tried it DO IT.. !!

If you are a great shot when standing behind a firing line..... this can be a humbling experince. It is real world type shooting. I had a BLAST.

The guys there love the sport and are eager to help new people out and feel comfortable.

Thanks guys.. I look forward to shooting with you all more in the future!!

I'm interested in trying my hand at IDPA an IDPA match. I have been shooting guns all my life, but have never progressed past plinking with a handgun. I'm an average shot, and this seems like an opportunity to have fun, and improve my skills. Is there a POC to find out about the rules and gear requirements for this: for instance, what type of ammo is acceptable, what calibers are acceptable, etc...

sthrcave, im glad your interested in IDPA. I'm just home for a sec so i dont have to much time but in a previous post they got the basics pretty good.

"I was told I would need 150 rounds to complete the match, 3 mags, holster that remains open when the gun is removed and covers the trigger and a belt mag holder for the additional 2 mags."

Also there is a Match tomorrow if you wanted to try it out.

Is it it the indoor range or outdoor? What classes of shooters are there?
