Default Caught first fish through the ice today...

Went out to check out some ponds I have been eyeballing here in the Fairbanks area. I drilled a few holes and the ice was about 6 inches. I fished for 3 or 4 hours and caught one small pike about 12 inches long. Got another hit but didn't stay on. Nice to get out fishing while the weather is still warm. Didnt bring my camera.

    Thanks
    Carl

    Default Dude-

I'm so envious! We have fished through the ice around here in early November before, but looks like not this year.

haha...lol! Yes, but now I only have to drive a little over 1 hour to get to fish the Mat-Su valley, and now I have better opportunities to fish the Kenai area. Sorry bud, I cannot give up the fishing secrets of the cold interior, my buddy TSS would probably be upset if I did. Give him a call, he is always open to fishing with new people.

Got my first yesterday. Look at the size of this one. Man they grow them large in Chena Lakes. Ice was about 3 inches.

The minnow you see is the actual fish not my bait. Haven't been out since. Army is taking up too much of my time.
