    Default POW Blacktail

Heading over there in a few weeks - would you guys recommend setting up shop out north or south on POW? We'll be bringing the FWD so we'll be more mobile.....but just wondering what ya'll would recommend for optimum chances of bringing one in.

    Thanks in advance.

Either should be OK. I typically just hunt north, but I'm used to that area.

    Good luck.

A 4X4 is only needed if it snows ... so far it's been warm ...

but I saw the first snow on the POW Island mountains today ....

A pretty good dusting on the alpine today. I had snow hitting me while hunting at about 1700 feet. But 5 minutes later it was sunny.. Then raining.. Then hailing..

Good deer hunting all over the island IMO.. A guy's chances increase dramatically if he hikes a few miles away from the road system.

Thanks for the info - we're heading out this weekend...the snow should help things lean more in our favor hopefully.... and if we're lucky, we'll get to have some meat for the freezer.

My son and friend got back yesterday with 5 bucks. They were looking for at least 3 pointers so they past up many forkies. They saw 10 bucks on Monday so they are moving pretty well.
