Question Kenai Report - Is the water coming down?

I heard the water was way up last weekend. Has anything changed? Water clarity getting better?

We were thinking about giving skilak to bings a try on sunday.

Has anyone been out that wouldn't mind telling the rest of us how fishing was and what the river was looking like.

    Cheers!!

Gotta be better than last weekend, fished it for the first time and it sucked! The middle sucked that is... Gonna have to try fishing it again, sometime soon hopefully.

    Fish On!
You know your not catching any fish when you start talking about the weather...

Fishing is terrible on the middle. Heard the upper was picking up though. Not many boats either.

In Soldotna it appears to have dropped about 3 feet and not all muddy anymore. Don't know what that means for further up but sure looks a lot better here.

Went out fishing on both the middle and the upper Kenai in the last few days. Water is dropping but still surprisingly high for this time of year for so long after the ice dam breaking up on Snow River. Dollies are spawning on the Upper and the fishing is only "fair". The middle is a different story. Water is off color somewhat with only a foot or two of visibility from Skilak down to Bings which seems to mean that runoff into Skilak (not the Killey Rivers fault) is stirring things up. It will probably clear up pretty quickly when the temps start dropping at night. Fishing is pretty slow in the middle with very few chrome silvers around and the trout are also off of the bite. Catching a handful of both dollies & rainbows but still pretty slow. Beads, flesh, etc doesn't seem to make much difference. Anyway, weather is still good so maybe it will pick back up again before to long.

Default Anyone fishing the upper this week?

Just curious, keep the reports coming...don't really want to take a long float in the cold without some action to warm us up.
