Thread: PackRaft POOL POLO

  1. #1

    Default PackRaft POOL POLO

    WHERE: ANCHORAGE, AK
    POOL: BARTLETT HIGH POOL
    WHEN: WED, 12/2/2009
TIME 7 PM TO 830 PM
Contact; Jim gonski, ak kayak academy, 907 746 6600

Kayaks have played water polo in the pool for years, now we want to start packraft polo games. This is a great fun game that will keep your paddle muscles in shape, and help you learn better paddle skills. Because packrafts are so stable, you can invite friends along.

The game is played 5 v 5 in a 25 meter pool. The plan is to run games for 15 minutes, then change out teams. Winning team stays in the pool.

If it takes off we will open up more nights, and maybe even start a league, so start thinking of 5-7 friends to put on your team.

Are you willing to share your boat?
    Thanks
    Jim

Now THAT sounds like fun! There are quite a few packrafters (and their husbands/wives) on here, so I'm going to make this a sticky until then so that no one misses it...

    Thumbs up cool deal!

    Hi folks,

I talked with Jim about this today and I think we should let this announcement appear in multiple forums. It's a break from the norm, but he tells me that many of their packrafters come from the hiking community (go figure). Anyway, the thread has been copied over to the hiking forum too, so if you see it there, that's why.

Hopefully some of our pack rats will attend! Sounds like a blast.

No apology necessary; it belongs in both places! Good catch.

Did this ever get off the ground? I don't live in Anchorage, but if I did I would definitely be interested in playing! I'd like to see how it's played, or how it goes. Does anyone have video of a game in progress?
