Default Savage 24, other combo guns

Anyone have one of these neat guns? I think I'd like to get one.

I had one a few years back in 30-30 over 12ga. Quirky in a nifty sort of way, not great quality but decent enough. I always regretted not getting the 22 Hornet over 20ga. (which is a better fit for the gun IMHO).

I sold mine intent on getting a smaller version and was (predictably) overcome with desire to buy something else entirely... I don't see many of these floating around for sale used so you might have a tough time finding one locally.

    Default 24 f

I have one. Bought it about 10 years ago with plans to make it my every day kind of gun. Long story short, it has been out of the safe maybe 10 times. I like it and have no need to part with it, but have found other firearms to be the weapon of choice most of the time.

Mine is 22 over 20 gauge, would be a perfect camp or cabin gun.

Like the others, I've had them and let them slip away. They're a good idea, but the sights aren't great for shotgun, while they're not that good for the rifle either. Heavy, too, and I never particularly liked the balance for shotgunning.

But that's all taste. Last one I had was Hornet/20 gauge and it handled best by far. The buddy I sold it to loves it and uses it a lot. Taste, once again. You might like one and you might not, but there's really no way to know for sure till you try it.

If you have the money I would look at one of the older Tikka or Winchester 101. You can also still find some good cape guns on gun broker but the are sxs

    Default 24v

I've got a 24v chambered in .222/20ga. I think it's an interesting concept for a cabin gun, but for the real hunting I end up grabbing something else from the cabinet. I'm not sure I'd ever let it go though.

Mine is 22/410 and is great for rabbits and grouse. 22H/20ga would make a nice combo but the rear sights are a little crude on the 24s.
