I have never done one of thier hunts but I have a friend who guides for one of the Colorado Elk and Mulie hunts. This outfit books hunts through Cabelas. My friend has been guiding for them for 9 years and it is a first class operation. I also have talked with the owner/operator myself and may guide for him some next fall. He is very adamant that his clients have a first class experience. They have 14 large ranches next to forest service land that they hunt. Anyway, I got the impression that in order for an outfit to book through Cabelas they have got to be first rate. I know this particular outfit is because of my friend who guides for it and just by talking to the owner. A lot of thier clients are repeats also so that says someting. pm me if you want more info if you are interested in hunting Elk and Mulies in Colorado.

A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and donít have one, youíll probably never need one again

    Default archives?

Might be some Cabelas trip fodder in the archives here, Handwerk.

    A fishing lodge i have
worked out might of done a bit of booking out of cabelas and the management is now so bad that the guide turnover rate is rediculous. I'm not sure if they book through cabelas any more though
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

I know some of the guys over at Cabela's that run the hunting trips from when I worked there. They research the snot out of any outfitter they work with and keep checking back with them. 100% customer satisfaction is the Cabela's way of doing things so you can be pretty safe going that route. And if you have questions, ask them, they'll help.
