Default Fishing in Juneau vs Kodiak

How is the fly fishing in Juneau compared to Kodiak? I have heard that fishing in Kodiak is better due to the road systems. I am hoping to be transferred to Kodiak but its starting to look like I will end up in Juneau.

I'm sure Kodiak is better . . . lot's better when you consider Kodiak has the Karluk.

    You'll survive in J-town.

Kodiak is WAY better, that's the difference.

    there's fishing in Juneau?
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

    Default Hop to it...

Take the Juneau assignment and then hop your way to Kodiak for R&R.
However, trust your Juneau new USCG Buds for their local expertise.

Any assignment in AK is bound to be more exciting than Lower 48...

    Default It's all relative

Kodiak wins big over Juneau for purely fly-fishing considerations.

That said, - L.G. nailed it - you would enjoy yourself in Juneau.

And remember, everything is relative up here. Many times each year in the Juneau area I'll be deep into a fish chase or animal hunt or seafood gathering moment or maybe just a simple hike out my back door, and I'll back up for a minute, look around, and say to myself: "Man-oh-man, ain't this sumpthin ??"

Thanks for the input. I trust I can't lose either way. Just curious to what to look forward to. Hopefully I will know next month.

Pretty hard to beat the beauty of Southeast Alaska when you're stream fishing for Cutts or Coho's on a pretty fall day...IMO
