Pretty cool pics and recipes Strangerinastrangland, tell me more of how you prepare Kobuk River bacon. I may ask my wife to cook some up for us one of these days. Sure sounds like fried salt fish. Whitefish are nice and fat this time of the year, caught 33 a few weeks back. Man they are tasty.

Deep fryed salted salmon bellys, nukalpiaq. Crispy, crunchy, salty, oily..... good

mmmmm......Whitefish. We have been freezing ours that have eggs, drying the guys, and eating them with oil Now they stay frozen and were kicking out the freezer, and netting about 30 various fish a day. Freez up is pending. Some channles are iced over.....we still have some late Salmon, but thats not unusal.
Now its time to stack up the Ducks for few mid winter feeds.

I hear ya, nothing like late fall harvesting. I did good on geese put away 20 or so this fall, wife wants me to net some trout too so we can cut'em, hang'em then smoke'em. My whitefish net should work good for that. We harvest the round whitefish here, north of us along the Kusko folk get the humpback type. Seal hunting soon too, need to make some fresh seal oil before winter. Good luck harvesting up there in your part of the country.
