    Default Nothing but bears!

Did a 14 day flyout to unit 9b. Set up camp the day before season and while scouting that evening we saw a 60+ bull. He was the last moose we saw. We counted 4 griz and 20 black bear though.

Here's a shot of my brother with my blackie sow. Squared 6' 1". She had 4" of fat on her back.

Since the freezer is almost empty I decided to try my standby area and went on a 5 day float trying hard for a bull. I saw one cow and 2 griz. Shot this one on the first day of the float.

She squared 6' 2" and only had 1 1/2" of fat on her back.

Great job on the "calf eaters" . Maybe a couple years from now there will be a few more moose in there. The fact that they were both sows sure doesn't hurt!!!

This was my first time in 9b. I've gone on the float for 4 years in a row now. I've gotten 3 grizzly in the 4 years.

SOWS! I applaud you sir, good hunt. The back fat info was interesting, that was a big black.

    Default nice

Looks like a nice area anyway. Keep up with the calf eaters. Sorry to hear that you missed out on the moose though. Worse day hunting is better than the best day working

I love to eat moose, but I much prefer bear hunting. Congrats on the bears.
