Thread: Found my first caribou

    Default Found my first caribou

Although I've been on several caribou trips before, I've never been the one pulling the trigger. This season I was awarded my first caribou tag. My father and I hunted about two weeks ago for five days and only saw three caribou late one night about four miles away. Last weekend we decided to give it another try. We found one bull with four cows. Not too bad of a bull for only one option. Hopefully he already accomplished his "bull duties". Loved hunting with you Pops. I'll remember this season forever.

    Most excellent!!!

Hows the meat? If you can detect the smell of Rut, it smells like and tastes like exhaust from a motor, then you will know that he was doing his "Duty".........though theres a very good chance we was just among Caribou, as they are a herd animal and like to stay with others.

Was his stomach full of water? a sure sign of impending rut. Then its spicy sausage time........

I hope you got both trophys, antlers and good meat.

    What a prize.

And worthy of a 1st Post, too.

Congrat's and that looks like a really nice set of horns on that bou. It looks like the tines are pretty/somewhat symmetrical. Just a nice animal
