    Default Canvas Top Makers

My boat is coming up on needing a new top... I was wondering who out there does good work and at a reasonable price? I am willing to travel if the price and quality is worth it. What is a good price?

    Thanks!

A gentleman in your neck of the woods (North Pole) made mine. I don't know if his prices are reasonable or not because the top came with my boat and I bought it used, but it is a very nice top and very well made. I'd give you more specifics but the boats at home and I'm at work right now. You could contact Compeau's and I'm sure they could give you more info.

Custom Canvas Alaska on Peger Rd in Fairbanks makes a very good top. I don't have one yet, but when I need to replace mine the new one will come from them.

Custom Canvas on Van Horn did mine for new boat this summer - OUTSTANDING work, couldn't be happier. Competitive prices, excellent quality of materials/workmanship, quick turnaround, turned out exactly how I wanted it to. Even had them do a custom windshield cover for rocks/etc, turned out great.

Alaska Canvas in North Pole does a great job. I am very happy with our canvas. I also had a window pillow made from them. Custom canvas did my rock guard for the front of the boat and was great quality as well.

I would say $1,300 would be a good price, $1,500 would not be out of reason. Last I checked a top with canvas, windows and frame was around $1,800.

    Default Spring time

I hate to wait until spring, but it may have to wait until tax return time. The guys in Homer offer a winter discount, but with gas and all I am not really saving anything.

    Default Stay away

From the Sunshine guy at Merrill Field. He had my boat for 3 weeks and I still hads to take it back 5 time and he still never finished it. Plus it was a cr*p job. He had my buddies boat for 9 MONTHS. Granted my buddy did not complain to much as it was stored inside a heated hanger but when spring had come around it still took weeks to get his boat back.

    Red face

Howling Storm in the Valley replaced the windows, some zippers, and a handful of snaps on my canopy. They do good work at very reasonable rates. Website: http://www.howlingstorm.com/

    Good Luck!!
