    Default Write your Senators NOW

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing Act is in front of Congress right this minute. The bill will require any person that owns or purchases a handgun to basically become an FFL, and be subject to all the invasions that an FFL is subject to.
Check it out on Google or Snopes.com.

Not according to The Library of Congress. This bill is still stuck in subcommittee. Status hasn't changed since February.

Non-issue bill at this point. It is dead in the water and, as noted, has been for months.

Glad to hear it! Hope it dies there too!

Okay, I just contacted the office of Congressman Broun, a very Pro 2nd Amendment representative. The E-mail notification I received yesterday was sent by the National Association of Gun Rights on behalf of Cong. Broun. Apparently, this bill has gained support and is being moved forward again, so, we must be vigilant and keep track. Complacency is evil and I have no doubt that the present regime will stop at nothing to remove all our Constitutional rights, to gain full control of our lives as they already have been doing incrementally. Anyone who can't see this at this point, Dem, Repub. or Independant, is a fool and part of the problem. Google on Mark Lloyd and his version of the Fairness Doctrine, a pure intent to destroy the 1st Amendment.

As the bill starts with HR that means it's a house bill and contacting your senator about it will do no good for this particular bill. Contact your representative to voice your oppinion. However for it to pass a companion bill (the senate's version of the bill example S1234) will be created for it to go through the senate. Then you'll want to contact your senators.

That bill has no chance of passing. None.

The big rumour in the industry that I am hearing is rumblings about an import ban on ammo. You 7.62x39ers and Wolf lovers should be vigilant.

The truthfulness of that rumbling? Well thats why we bought up all the brass cased reloadable 7.62x39 we could get our hands on. Expensive yes, but one swipe of the pen makes it 80,000 rounds of pure gold.

And the US factories just dont make it anymore.

Is there some sort of petition or website that we can voice our opinion against this?

Default Another worthwhile cause for writing your Senators/Reps

I know its important to write our Senators and Representatives in genaral about our views regarding bills threatening our gun rights, but its also important to encourage them to take positive actions to ensure our rights as well.

According to the NRA-ILA website, Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) have introduced S. 941, the “Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act of 2009” in the U.S. Senate and Representatives Steve King (R-Iowa) and Zack Space (D-Ohio) have introduced a companion bill—H.R. 2296—in the U.S. House.

The bills would roll back unnecessary restrictions, correct errors, and codify longstanding congressional policies in the firearms arena. These bipartisan bills are a vital step to modernize and improve BATFE operations. In other words, these bills would hold back those BATFE agents who may be a bit overzelous in their enforcements and their views of their POWER over common, lawabiding citizens. Getting this kind of positive legislation passed and in place will do far more to protect our rights to keep and bear arms than writing about our fears of at remotely potential negative legislations. It apparently has widespread support and looks likely to pass even in these times of seemingly liberal, left wing power. We need to make sure it does.

If you dig further into the article on the NRA-ILA page, you'll notice that Senator Murkowski and Rep Young are already co-sponsers of this legislation, but Senator Begich for some reason is not, even though it's clearly a bipartisan effort on our behalfs....

It'll be interesting to find out why Senator Begich isnt listed as a co-sponsor along with the rest of our representation in DC. Maybe a bunch of us could write him and let him know unequivocally what our expectations are from him.

Senator Begich has already pissed on his constituents with the Sotomayor vote. Nothing more is needed from him.

Hope y'all will join me in 2014 (?) in the Anybody But Begich Cub.

HR 45 hasn't moved since it went to committee to die.

Snopes is not an authoritative primary source and google simply reports mentions on websites with no measure of credibility or even when they were posted.

I'd be interested to see the actual date of that email. A lot of this nonsense comes when people re-circulate out of date info for whatever reason.
